Virginia Tech, West Virginia University, North Carolina State University, Penn State University, Ohio State University, and the University of Maryland are proud to announce the Mid-Atlantic Agricultural and Resource Law Conference, scheduled for October 28–29, 2025, at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. This annual event brings together legal professionals, policymakers, academics, students, and agricultural stakeholders from across the region to explore the latest developments in agriculture, energy, land use, and natural resource law.

The 2025 conference offers a unique opportunity for continuing legal education (CLE) and meaningful dialogue on critical legal issues affecting rural communities and working lands.

Highlights include:

  • Opening Night – October 28: A welcome dinner at 5 p.m., followed by a bonus CLE session at 7 p.m. and networking happy hour at 8 p.m.

  • Conference Day – October 29: Full-day sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. covering pressing topics including solar development, heirs property, land use regulation, and environmental compliance.

  • Sessions led by experts in legal practice, academia, and government.

  • CLE credit is being requested for multiple states.

Designed with attorneys, landowners, and agricultural professionals in mind, the conference provides practical guidance from those practicing in those fields to ensure attendees leave with actionable knowledge and tools. The setting at the National Conservation Training Center offers a scenic and relaxing venue for both learning and connection.

“This conference continues to be a vital space for regional and national conversations about the changing legal landscape in agriculture and resource management,” said Paul Goeringer, Principal Faculty Specialist at the University of Maryland. “Whether you're navigating land use disputes, renewable energy projects, or evolving state laws, this event equips you to better serve your clients and communities.”

Registration is now open at extension.wvu.edu/conferences/agricultural-and-resource-law-conference. Early registration is encouraged due to limited capacity at the venue.
