I recently wrote a column for Maryland Grows blog, a blog that is utilized by University of Maryland Extension’s Home and Garden Information Center, discussing potential legal issues when a neighbor will not take care of a diseased tree. For urban landowners prior decisions can create duties of care to inspect the property and treat any diseased trees found during the inspection. Rural landowners have typically not been held to the same duty of care.
